I have a Diploma with Distinction graduate from KLC School of Design, offering a strong understanding of space, scale and proportion. I combine thoughtful planting design with carefully considered hard landscaping to create cohesive, practical gardens that respond to both client needs and site context.

Previously a Chartered Surveyor, I bring solid technical knowledge of construction alongside strengths in site analysis, measurement, negotiation, planning application and client management. This background enables me to produce clear, buildable design solutions and communicate confidently with contractors and clients alike.

Philip Barnes — Garden Designer

Diploma with Distinction, English Gardening School. Formerly General Manager at Sissinghurst Castle Garden (National Trust), I oversaw high-profile projects including Delos, developing a design approach that celebrates landscape, heritage and naturalistic planting. Since qualifying, I have established a Sussex-based practice crafting gardens that respond to their context, enhancing both aesthetics and ecological richness.

Skilled in hand drawing, SketchUp, and technical planning, construction and CDM, I combine creativity with practical delivery.
