Course Overview

This course is designed to unlock your creative potential as a designer by introducing you to Procreate, a powerful and intuitive digital drawing program. While Procreate shares many features with software like Photoshop, it offers a far more accessible and user-friendly experience. With Procreate, you can sketch in pencil, draw in ink, or paint in watercolour in ways that closely mimic traditional techniques, but with the added ease and flexibility of digital technology.

What will be taught on this course?

You will learn a variety of techniques to incorporate Procreate into your design workflow. Key skills covered will include the creation of photorealistic plant libraries, sketched plant libraries and texture libraries that can be used across all your future projects. We will also explore sketching and watercolour techniques that can be applied as overlays to photographs, helping you to create beautiful design visualisations for your clients. Whether you are creating freehand designs or working with photo montages, Procreate allows you to easily combine photographic images to produce realistic visualisations with minimal effort.

Although Procreate is primarily aimed at digital artists, it can also be used for technical drawings and scaled work—skills that will be taught in this course. You’ll learn simple workarounds to ensure your designs are both creative and technically precise. We will also explore Procreate’s built-in perspective guides, which allow you to quickly and accurately draw in perspective, locking your pencil to pre-determined grids and making perspective drawings easier to manage.

One of Procreate’s biggest advantages is the ability to create reusable design elements. For example, you only need to draw a plant symbol once, and it can then be saved into a permanent library, ready for future use without the need to redraw it each time. This significantly enhances efficiency and streamlines the workflow.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a solid understanding of how to use Procreate to create both artistic and technical designs, freeing up time while maintaining a high standard of quality. Whether you’re generating freehand sketches, creating photorealistic visuals, or producing detailed plans, this course will give you all the tools you need to incorporate Procreate into your design process.
