Back to Basics is a series of three bite-size lectures designed to refresh core design skills, rebuild confidence, and reignite enthusiasm for using them in everyday practice. The series is rooted in the fundamentals that underpin strong, thoughtful design, yet are so easily overlooked as we become busy, experienced, or reliant on habit.
Whether you have never consciously worked with a grid, feel uncertain about the principles behind using curves, or sense that your design process has become blurred or overly instinctive, these sessions offer a chance to pause, reflect, and recalibrate. They are equally suited to those early in their careers and to more established designers who simply want to reconnect with the foundations of their craft.
Each lecture combines clear, accessible teaching with open discussion, encouraging participants to question, share experiences, and rediscover the value of these essential tools. The aim is not to prescribe a single way of working, but to strengthen understanding and empower you to apply these principles with greater clarity and intention.
Join Andrew for an engaging and supportive series that strips design back to its essentials, helping you move forward with renewed focus, confidence, and creativity.
