PROTECTING YOURSELF AS GARDEN DESIGNER - PART TWO
Presented by: Alan Sargent FCIHort FPGCA
A presentation produced by Alan Sargent FCIHort FPGCA who is the founder of The Association of Professional Landscapers and also The Professional Garden Consultant’s Association. His career since 1968 includes designing and building hundreds of gardens, mainly in the domestic sector, including 61 RHS Show Gardens between 1984 and 2005. He was a founder member of The Chartered Institute of Horticulture in 1984, and has had a close association with The SGLD since its formation in 1981, working with all of the founding members.

Following on from Alan’s previous visit during the Spring, he returns for a further session offering practical advice for designers with a series of subjects that may cause problems for the unwary.
The topics he will address are related; Climate-Optimal Landscape Specification Writing, Reclaimed/Recycled hard landscape materials and Working on Listed or Historic Buildings, where knowledge of traditional techniques and specification are paramount when specifying materials to meet particular criteria.
The discussion will include matters of planning and matching existing works with new, ensuring successful blending including long-term compatibility of construction techniques.
