Planting Design for Biodiversity
With new planning frameworks in place throughout the UK our industry must reckon with the concept of biodiversity. Beyond bug hotels and species listicles this session will explore some basic principles that can help us understand the conditions biodiversity needs to thrive. In light of this ecological understanding, we will see how various garden and landscape interventions can have positive (or negative) impacts. Urban ecology is highly complex, however, there are some consistent patterns which enable us to establish design principles that can easily be integrated into any garden style.
This course is split over two morning sessions one week apart. In the first we cover the theory. In the second we will discuss one of each of your projects in light of the theory. This will be a chance to discuss a live project with myself and your peers. These sessions are always very much appreciated as we consider putting the theory into practice in a supportive context.
