Description:

Learn how to sketch, draw, and model in an environment built for the way landscape design professionals work. Join this webinar hosted by Marketa Hermova, garden designer and product specialist at Vectorworks, to examine residential site design in-depth through Vectorworks Landmark’s Site Model and Grading tools.

By focusing on sloping residential sites, the session will trace a complete residential design workflow: importing and validating surveyed elevation data, generating existing and proposed site models, and applying site modifiers in various modes to control finished levels, gradients, and interface conditions at thresholds and retaining structures.

Participants will learn how to configure Grade objects, perform contour editing, and conduct cut-and-fill analysis to resolve stepped terraces and circulation routes before integrating hardscape and landscape area objects. The webinar concludes with the production of a coordinated output of plans and sections from the same Vectorworks file, demonstrating how a disciplined digital grading workflow underpins buildable multi-level patio design, water-sensitive detailing, and contractor-ready documentation for residential garden projects.

Attendees will:

● Discover how to import, validate, and structure residential survey data to generate an accurate existing-site model, including DWG/DXF contours, 3D loci, and spot levels.

● Understand how to configure and apply site modifiers in various modes to control finished levels, gradients, and interface conditions.

● Recognize how to resolve stepped terrace geometry and circulation routes using contour editing, slope and water-flow visualizations, and cut-and-fill calculations – ensuring grading solutions meet functional and drainage performance requirements.
