Drainage is a very popular topic so I’m delighted to announce a one day workshop on all you need to know about drainage with Jason Hinks. Jason has a wealth of knowledge and practical experience in the landscape industry so this is the ideal opportunity to expand your design expertise and tackle the all important issue of drainage in your designs.

This one day course will cover:-

Session 1 What is drainage, why do we need it and how do we do it?

  • Identifying problems - poor natural drainage and man made issues
  • Mechanics of different drainage systems and how they work

Session 2Designing gradients and falls to remove surface water from paved surfaces

  • Hydrostatic gradient, patios, terraces, retaining walls
  • Grids and gullies and different types of product

Session 3 Regulations and Laws governing drainage

  • Solutions, which one is the right system - case studies
  • Environmental responsibilities, sustainability, constraints and limitations

Course tutor profile: Jason has over 30 years experience within the landscape industry working for a number of high profile companies, building small domestic gardens to multi million pound projects as well as building show gardens at RHS Chelsea and Tatton Show. As well as a passion for horticulture, Jason has taught landscape construction and trained and coached students to enter the World skills arena. He also runs his own successful landscape company in the NW.
Special note: Jason is very generously donating his speaker fee to Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Wirral in memory of Tony McCormack ‘Mr Paving Expert’ who sadly died last September.
