Matt shall be talking about his wonderful diverse horticultural career as a GQT panelist, writer, broadcaster and more! He will then address something we are all struggling with, what are the best plant choices for the insane weather we have been encountering?

There is a charge for this talk at £15, bookings are to be made through the SGD events page. Numbers are extremely limited so it is very much on a first come basis. One to certainly look forward to!

A bit about Matt

Matt Biggs is a gardener, writer and broadcaster with over forty years’ experience in horticulture. He trained at Pershore College of Horticulture, holds the Kew Diploma in Horticulture and has a passion for plants. Early in his career, Matthew ran a garden design and
maintenance business, creating feature gardens and land art for RHS Shows at Hampton Court and a garden for BBC Gardeners’
World TV at Gardeners’ World Live. He is currently a Royal Horticultural Society Floral Judge at Chelsea and other shows, is a Friend of the RHS Woody Plant Committee, on the Collections Committee of ‘Plant Heritage’, an Ambassador for the Hardy Plant Society. He is past Director of the Plants and Plantsmanship Course at the English Gardening School.

Matt has also authored and co-authored eighteen horticultural books on plants subjects from vegetables to trees, including commissions from the RHS and The Eden Project and recently published his first factual children’s book ‘A Home for Every Plant – Wonders of the Botanical World’. Most recently he was Consultant Editor and contributor for ‘Garden: Exploring the Horticultural World’ a selection of over 300
artistic interpretations of gardens by Phaidon Publishers.

He is a regular contributor to magazines, notably Gardens’ Illustrated and SGD Journal. His wide knowledge of horticulture has seen him offering advice and problem solving on the panel of BBC Radio 4’s ‘Gardeners’ Question Time’ since 2004, a role he describes as ‘A Horticultural GP’.
