A sunken garden was created adjacent to the new sun room on the clients' Grade II listed Derbyshire farmhouse. Extensive excavations required the construction of stone retaining walls and planting terraces.
A contemporary front garden to complement the modern architectural features on the clients' house. A stepping stone path leads to the front door and planting has been used to distinguish the pedestrian access from the drive.
A remodelled garden combining old and new for a Sheffield client. The garden was designed to reflect the client's Californian heritage using plants and materials that were redolent of the American south-west.
A West Yorkshire country garden. Colourful planting was used to provide a visual connection between the clients' farmhouse and the garden beyond, with glimpses of the lawn, seating area and summer house.
A new garden for a country villa near Sheffield. The sloping site had been excavated to enable the house to be extended. Retaining walls were built using stone from the excavations to create a series of planted terraces with patio and water feature.
A steeply sloping Devon garden required winding steps to create comfortable access. The rustic brick boundary wall was enhanced with cedar cladding. A characterful mature apple tree was retained and enhanced with shade planting.
A steeply sloping triangular garden was remodelled with corten steel and cedar clad retaining walls. Light coloured paving brings light into the space and rich coloured planting enhanced the colour scheme.
A cedar boardwalk and raised beds enables year round access to this garden which was previously waterlogged. Planting that tolerates the damp conditions was introduced and the raised beds enabled a wider range of plants to be used.
The front garden of a suburban Sheffield villa involved the addition of a classic greenhouse and potager. The garden is sensitive to the conservation area status of the local environment.
