Tim Austen MSGLD
Tim founded his garden design studio in 2007, a distinct part of his landscape architecture practice, Austen Landscape Architects. His passion for creating gardens and public spaces stems from his early immersion in horticulture, nurtured by his parents and further developed through a career in nature conservation and landscape contracting. This background has led to a strong plant-focused approach in his design work.
Since then, Tim has designed hundreds of gardens across Ireland and abroad, collaborating closely with clients to create unique spaces. He has also built five large show gardens at Bloom in the Park, Dublin, earning three gold medals, two silver-gilt medals, and two people's favourite garden awards. His experience extends to television, having served as a garden judge on RTÉ's "Super Garden."
The practice recently earned three Highly Commended awards and an Honourable Mention at the Irish Landscape Institute Design Awards 2024.
Tim’s philosophy centres on designing gardens that balance the needs of people with those of nature, creating spaces that foster well-being while providing habitats for wildlife and diverse flora for pollinators. His current ambitions focus on developing gardens that promote health and wellness for people, while also supporting a rich variety of plants and wildlife.
