Ernest George MSGLD

Registered Practice: Geo Designs Landscape and Garden

Ernest George founded Geo Designs in 1995, practising in the home counties before moving to the Scottish Highlands, where he has worked for over 25 years. Trained as a landscape architect, he works at every scale, from small town gardens to walled gardens and the wider setting of country houses and estates, bringing the same care to each. The demanding Highland climate has given him a depth of plant and site knowledge he applies to projects throughout Scotland.

His approach is rooted in ecology, and he has a particular interest in landscapes of historic and cultural significance. Every garden begins with listening; to the land, the light and the landscape around it, and to the people who will live with it. The result is gardens and places that respect the character of a property, sit naturally in their setting and mature with every season." Geo Designs has been commissioned to create bespoke show gardens for brands at Kensington Olympia, the SECC in Glasgow and trade stands at RHS Chelsea, earning RHS accolades and Best in Show at the inaugural Urban Gardens show. The practice’s work has featured in the national press and in specialist garden and interiors publications."
