I have been producing figurative sculptures in bronze for over 35 years. My work is nearly always based on the human figure, whether in an abstract form or in a more realistic way.
Large public commissions have included ‘Icarus I’ for the London 2012 Olympic Village and the Sir Peter Scott sculpture for the London Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre in Barnes.
The bulk of my large work feature in private gardens across the UK, Ireland and America. I am a keen gardener and love seeing sculpture in a garden. As a result of this most of the larger sculptures I produce are created with a garden setting in mind. I feel that works of art add to any garden’s character, be it a formal landscaped garden or the informal more traditional large garden or cottage garden. The warm, earthy tones of bronze’s natural patina make a bronze sculpture particularly suited to a garden setting.
I have become known for my sculptures depicting the mythological figure Icarus; there have been thirteen in the series so far; the latest and largest work to date is the huge ‘Icarus Rising’ sculpture, which stands at 5m high and 4m wide.
