Digital workflows that help you win new clients with SGLD Awards Sponsor - Vectorworks

This webinar will be presented along with Paul Cowell from PC Landscapes https://pclandscapes.co.uk/

This webinar explores how Vectorworks Landmark supports cost control, accurate cut & fill analysis, and robust technical detailing in complex residential projects requiring close collaboration between architects, landscape architects, and structural engineers.

Participants will see how to build a coordinated 3D site model, overlay concept designs, and run calculations, with discussion of soil expansion, spoil locations and grading strategies to minimise export and import of material. The session then connects earthworks decisions with wider sustainability goals, including soil management, water strategies, biodiversity, and emissions, using a categorised approach to materials and landscape elements so that environmental impact is considered from the earliest design stages.

Learn how to structure drawings so that layer and class organisation, itemised build-ups and formation levels feed directly into accurate material take‑offs, giving clear quantities for paving, sub-base, soils, edging, drainage components and retaining structures. The workflow illustrates how to link these drawings to cost planning, allowing rapid testing of design options while staying within budget and environmental constraints.

Finally, the webinar focuses on collaboration with architects, structural and drainage engineers, and specialist suppliers through clearly referenced items, shared formation levels, coordinated details and exported information. Examples include coordinating retaining walls, deck build-ups, water feature structures and drainage layouts so that responsibilities are clear and clashes are reduced on site. The overall aim is to give landscape designers a repeatable, efficient process in Vectorworks Landmark that improves design quality, supports sustainable decision-making and delivers cost‑effective, buildable landscapes.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand how to set up a coordinated site model, run cut-and-fill and grading studies, and link these directly to sustainable earthworks strategies in Vectorworks Landmark.
  2. Learn how to create clear technical details and formation levels that drive reliable, cost‑effective material take‑offs and support accurate bills of quantities.
  3. Gain confidence in structuring Vectorworks Landmark files to collaborate effectively with architects, structural and drainage engineers and specialist contractors on complex landscape projects.
